Hot Slam thank you

Thank you to our official sponsor, Electrical Services Plus, for supplying the juice, bottled water, fruit, and hard boiled eggs. Thank you to Shirley Johnson and Scott Brown for supplying the water from Culligan. It was beautiful weather and I want to thank Mother Nature for not raining on the Hot Slam. It rained in Rockford on Monday, so I consider myself very lucky.

Thank you to Mark Rohrer, Dee Dee Cancelose, and Tonya Rueber of the Rockford Park District for their support.

Thank you to the players for participating. We also had a number of players that refereed matches in between their games - both local and visiting players. We had a number of volunteers that showed up just to referee - Ray Monroe, Pat "Mama" Freed, Chuck Kurt, and Lisa Mehlig to mention a few. We had a great support staff of volunteers that wrote out score sheets, set-up, tore down, and pretty much did anything needed to help run the tournament. Tammy and Brian Dean managed to find some straw bales late Friday night to cover up the mud patch that was adjacent to the pickleball courts. I couldn't ask for a better set of volunteers. It truly is a team effort.

Finally, a special thanks to my niece, Kirshna Selchow, who handled registration, sold equipment, and ran the scorer's tent all day so that I could referee. She also managed to get me ice cream and a Jimmy John's sandwich for lunch to make sure that I would eat. I love that kid.
